A delightful collection of childhood memories, whimsically illustrated and lovingly compiled to capture the innocence and wonder of youth. Each page offers a new vignette, a link in the chain of recollections that bind us to our earliest days. Links of Memory is a quintessential example of late Victorian children's literature, combining sentimental prose with intricate (mostly floral) illustrations. Ernest Nister: Born in 1841 in Darmstadt, Germany, Nister was a pioneer in the production of moveable children's books. His firm in Nuremberg and later in London was known for high-quality color printing and innovative techniques such as pop-ups and "dissolving pictures." Nister's work had a significant influence on the development of interactive children's books.
