This volume is a critical, scholarly inventory of medieval sculpture in the Berlin Sculpture Collection, focusing on works produced north of the Alps between 1050 and around 1380. It documents sculptures made of stone, wood, stucco, clay, and metal. Each work is presented with art-historical and conservation data, illustrated extensively in colour and black & white. The catalogue addresses the neglect of these works resulting from outdated publications, historical divisions of the collection, and years in storage, re-introducing them to researchers and the public.
