Physical copies were produced in small numbers. The Book of Joseph is a limited edition, in?universe artifact tied to the 2018 video game Far Cry 5, presented as the personal writings, sermons and autobiography of Joseph Seed, the charismatic yet fanatical leader of the doomsday cult known as the Project at Eden?s Gate. Within the narrative of the game, the book outlines Seed?s belief that he is chosen to warn humanity of an impending apocalypse and to lead the 'righteous' to salvation, and it includes the origin of his apocalyptic vision, his traumatic childhood experiences and the establishment of his cult in Hope County, Montana. Though not a conventional published book outside the game, The Book of Joseph was released as a small number of physical copies included with special editions of the game, making it a highly sought collectible for fans and collectors of gaming memorabilia. Joseph Seed is a fictional character and the primary antagonist of Ubisoft?s 2018 first?person shooter Far Cry 5. As leader of the Project at Eden?s Gate, Seed proclaims himself ?The Father? and uses apocalyptic rhetoric and extreme religious ideology to recruit followers and exert control over the fictional Hope County, Montana. Seed?s backstory, as depicted in The Book of Joseph, traces his emergence from trauma and visions of collapse to his role as a manipulative cult leader. The character has also featured in subsequent expansions and spin?offs in the Far Cry series, reflecting broader narrative themes of fanaticism and survival within the franchise.
